Via en-route visit to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century. Climb through the famous Lion’s Paws, admire the vibrant frescoes, landscaped royal gardens, and sophisticated hydraulic systems that once supplied water to the summit. Later, continue your drive to Polonnaruwa, upon reaching Polonnaruwa check in to your pre-booked hotel, after refresh yourself proceed for the medieval capital of Sri Lanka and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the well-preserved ruins of this ancient city, including impressive stupas, serene reclining Buddha statues, intricate Hindu sculptures, and advanced irrigation canals. Visit the renowned Vatadage (Relic House), admired for its exquisite stone carvings, followed by the Royal Palace and the magnificent Gal Vihare, where four impressive Buddha statues have been carved from a single granite rock. Udawalawe National Park is one of the best places in Sri Lanka to observe the famous Sri Lankan Elephant, the largest of the Asian elephant species, in its natural habitat.
